Kia ora!

I’m Annie, and I live in the West Auckland suburb of Te Atatū. I offer in-person counselling to adolescents, youth and young adults based out of both Ōrewa and Auckland Central in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland.

I have seven years of professional counselling experience working with youth and young adults, equating to around 2,000 hours of counselling practice.

Are you or is someone you know doing it tough?

I can help.

In my counselling practice, I hold the belief that there is always hope – because people are so much more than the one problem that brought them to counselling.

I also have this hope because the way we ‘story’ ourselves can be fluid – there is more than one way we can make sense of ourselves and our experiences, because our lives are much richer than any one story that can be told of us.

This is good news if you’re experiencing shame about something regrettable that you’ve done, and it’s good news if you are used to being known (by others or yourself) by your supposed ‘flaws.’

I believe we run into mental health challenges when we find ourselves situated within stories that devalue our identity, or when one particular story has been given too much power in defining us.

The Basics

I am based in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, and I offer in-person counselling or online counselling upon request. On Tuesdays I work within Auckland Central, and Wednesdays I work from an Ōrewa-based office. Although I work predominantly with adolescents, youth and young adults, I’m happy to counsel all age ranges.

I am currently undertaking masters-level study, but most previously I worked as Head of Counselling in a Year 0-13 school with 1700 students. My experience also encompasses time spent in a psychotherapy internship doing private counselling, and counselling for a not-for-profit organisation working with at-risk youth and young adults.

I am a full member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (MNZAC).

  • Counselling is for everyone! There is no problem too small. All I ask from my clients is a willingness to engage. There may, however, be instances where what I offer won’t suit what you or your child is needing - or where what is required is specialist support. We will discuss suitability regularly.

  • Counselling sessions are 50 minutes. Our first session will just be about me getting to know you and your history - and about ensuring you are able to ask any questions you might have. There will be no pressure to discuss what you don’t want to. From there you can decide whether you’d like to return, or not.

  • I can offer sessions online for those outside of Auckland.

  • No. I am not available to attend to crisis. If you are in urgent need of support please contact 111 if your life is in danger, or any one of these 24/7 helplines:
